It wouldn't be a festival all about water if attendees weren't actually getting on the water! During the two-day event festival goers can get on the water with a variety of experiences. Browse the list below and check back often as we add more fun leading up to the event.
All "try-it" experiences are based on availability and some might require pre-registration.
Whether you love boating and want to gain confidence at the helm, you're considering buying or renting a boat and want to learn new skills, or you're just curious about boating, the BoatUS On-Water Training program is a fun, easy, and affordable! In these 1.5 hour courses, you’ll learn how to prepare the boat for departure, basic operation principles, and develop key skills to having a safe day on the water.
The BoatUS Foundation is partnering with marinas, boat shows, and other organizations around the country to bring On-Water Training to a marina near you.

Potomac Paddle Pub
Potomac Paddle Pub will be showcasing DC’s first and only 15-passenger cycleboat. The boat is propelled by a 6-foot paddle wheel that is powered by passengers pedaling in tandem. This social, active adventure is the perfect way for friends, families, tourists, and colleagues to take in the sights of some of DC’s most monumental attractions. All journeys are BYOB, and passengers can enjoy food, beverages, and one another’s company in an intimate bar setting aboard the Potomac Paddle Pub.
Kayak and Paddleboard Demos
Try Stand Up Paddleboarding with Capital SUP. The crew will be on hand Saturday and Sunday from noon-6 pm with a variety of fun including SUP group lessons, SUP yoga demonstrations, paddle board rentals, and paddleboard sprint races.
